France is facing a very hot heatwave right now. The government put 54 areas under a "red alert." This means the weather is very dangerous. In many towns, the temperature will go above 40 degrees Celsius. This hot weather will continue until the end of the week. It is a big problem for millions of people in France.
Europe is warming faster than other parts of the world. Since the 1980s, temperatures in Europe have increased very quickly. This is dangerous for human health. In the last four years, more than 200,000 people in Europe died because of the heat. This heatwave is the second big one in 2026.
The heat is also changing the mountains. In the Chamonix Valley, the Bossons Glacier is melting very fast. This glacier is near Mont Blanc. New photos show that the ice is disappearing. In the 1980s, the glacier was much larger. Now, it is much smaller and the ice is moving back.
You can see water flowing from the melting ice. In 2025, a large hole appeared in the glacier. This shows that the ice is not stable. The heat in the cities and the melting ice in the mountains are both caused by climate change. The heat is an immediate danger, but the melting ice is a long-term change. Both problems show that the Earth is getting warmer every year.
