South Korea is experiencing very extreme heat. Because of this, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) is changing its plans. They are delaying or canceling professional baseball games to keep players and staff safe. The weather is very dangerous in some areas. In some places, the temperature is over 40 degrees Celsius for many days.
The city of Yangsan is very hot. For four days in a row, the temperature in Yangsan was above 40 degrees Celsius. One day, the temperature reached 41.6 degrees Celsius. This is the highest temperature in Yangsan since weather records began in 1904. This heat is a big problem for people and outdoor activities.
The KBO has new rules for the heat. Most baseball stadiums can start games one hour later. This helps teams avoid the hottest part of the afternoon. However, the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul is different. It is an indoor stadium, so it does not need to follow this rule.
The heat has already canceled some games. On Saturday, two big games did not happen. The game between the Samsung Lions and the Lotte Giants in Busan was canceled. Also, the game between the Kia Tigers and the NC Dinos in Changwon was canceled. These games were stopped because the temperature was going to be above 37 degrees Celsius.
The KBO will watch the weather closely. They may cancel more games if the heat stays dangerous. KBO rules allow them to change the schedule for bad weather, like strong winds or dust. They want to protect everyone during this heat wave.
